Can we just take a moment to appreciate and guffaw at Meredith confessing that she’d been getting her doctorate in Psychology and was just drinking like a college kid because its college?

I feel like her doctoral thesis was about alcohol abuse. Or maybe the psychological ramifications of being filmed for nine years of your life.

That and her son showing up as the stripper (along with her teaching him how it’s done) is why I love Meredith’s crazy/random antics.

Breast implants, bleached teeth, liposuction and Botox . . . the most famous characters in history would have looked very different if they’d been around today.
From Henry VIII to Lord Nelson, Queen Elizabeth I to Marie Antoinette and William Shakespeare, these five portraits imagine giants from history with a distinctly 21st-century twist.
The portraits - commissioned to tie in with the new historical TV series The Secret Life Of… were created by a digital artist using computer graphics.
Although the project is playful and irreverent, it is rooted in legitimate research.
TV historian Dr Suzannah Lipscomb spent three months working with the artist, deciding what changes could be backed up with real historical knowledge.

MARIE ANTOINETTE
Marie Antoinette (1755-1793), queen of France and wife of Louis XVI, who was executed during the French Revolution, was a fashion diva. But she was also far from being a natural beauty.
When her name was suggested as a suitable bride for Louis, courtiers saw her portrait and were horrified: she had too high a forehead, they said, wonky teeth and tiny breasts.
Marie Antoinette had been teased in her teens about the flatness of her bust.
It’s likely, if she were alive today, she would want breast implants. She certainly underwent appalling 18th-century corrective dentistry, so I’m sure she would have been delighted with the small pearly whites our makeover has provided.
She loved clothes and was a great trend-setter, buying four pairs of shoes every week and changing her outfits three times a day. She also liked to signal her mood by changing her hairstyle.
We’ve given her a fringe, to disguise her high forehead, and we’ve let down her 3ft-long tresses, Beyoncé-style.
She’s wearing a peacock feather fascinator, and the whole impression is sexy, daring and unrestrained. After all, Marie Antoinette was the original It Girl.
She might never have said ‘Let them eat cake,’ as legend claims, but I’m sure that today she’d be saying: ‘Let’s party!’

HENRY VIII
Henry VIII (1491-1547) would have found divorce a lot easier in the 21st century — though chopping off his wives’ heads, as he did with two of his queens, would have reduced his alimony payments.
He was the original bling king, with hats dripping in pearls and rubies on his fingers.
He would embrace TV, but not to become a celebrity — he never cared what ordinary people thought of him.
His aim was to make a serious impression on the power elite, to impress upon them that he was the boss — he saw himself as an Old Testament king with a direct line to God.
Today, he would have a hair transplant to hide his receding hairline.
He also has a tan, because he spent so much time riding and hunting, and shoes with heels to make his stature — over 6ft tall — even more impressive.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was the ultimate trendy playwright, not just a serious artist but the superstar of commercial theatre.
Today, he would have been writing for TV, the National Theatre and Hollywood — all at the same time.
We’ve depicted him as a hipster, very vain about his quiff and his immaculately trimmed beard.
There has always been speculation about his sexuality, since he wrote poetry to men and women.
So we popped an earring in his left ear, which carries a hint that he was gay.

HORATIO NELSON
Lord Nelson (1758-1805) lost his right arm fighting the Spanish so we’ve given him a robotic prosthetic that wouldn’t have looked out of place at the Paralympic Games.
He cared little for appearances, so we haven’t put a glove on the metal hand.
But we have also added a little weight to his face and frame, because in the modern Navy he would have seen a lot less action and been better fed.
He was known as a charismatic man whose presence spurred on men to heroism. One word from Nelson was better than a speech from most leaders.
So though his modern uniform is less attractive, and his array of medals less spectacular, we’ve awarded him the Victoria Cross.
That medal wasn’t around in his time — the first VC was awarded in 1856 — but he was England’s greatest hero and there seems little doubt that he would have earned its highest honour.

ELIZABETH I
Elizabeth (1533-1603) looks terrifying in our portrait — and she was a truly fearsome woman.
That Vivienne Westwood-type jacket makes her look like a business leader, because she saw herself as England’s chief executive.
But it also has an androgynous appeal that reminds us of David Bowie in his heyday. She wanted to be seen as the Virgin Queen.
She wasn’t austere or self-denying — her clothes were always cut from the richest fabrics. We’ve also given her bracelets and rings to draw attention to her long white fingers.
We put her in lots of make-up. Though she’s in her 40s in the portrait, there isn’t a wrinkle — she would have loved Botox.
In life, she caked her face in white lead to look young, which made her skin painful and puffy.
